First Ever Built Hampton Inn & Suites Added to Portfolio

Cornerstone Hospitality announced the addition of the first ever built Hampton Inn and Suites located in Newport News, Virginia to their portfolio.

"Our Hampton Inn & Suites was the first ever build in the country and Craig Larson has been the heart and soul of our hotel for the past 17 years," said Christine Yoder, Managing Member. " From the very beginning, his commitment has been a huge part of our success. It shows in the return guests, many of which he knows by name. He also has a strong commitment to his employees; many of them have been with the hotel for 10 - 15 years. We have tremendous respect for Craig as a person. His values mirror our own. It has made for a wonderful working relationship."

Larson said that bringing the Hampton Inn & Suites into the Cornerstone Hospitality portfolio is proof positive that the principles that he operated the property by match those of the company he co-founded with Kimberly Christner. "I've always operated the hotels I've overseen in my career by developing relationships with the owners and treating them with respect. The Yoder, Brunk and Lehman families are wonderful people and they made me want to do my personal best for them. I am truly humbled by their commitment to move their management to our new company".

During his oversight of the property, Larson was a Regional Vice President with a Chicago based hotel company, which previously held the management agreement for fifteen years.

The Hampton Inn & Suites in Newport News is slated to undergo a $2.5 million dollar renovation scheduled to begin in the summer of 2012. This renovation will include public space, guest rooms and exterior enhancements. Cornerstone Hospitality will implement and oversee the renovation project.
